Authorized Distributors and Retailers of Corian are trained professionals who help everyone who uses Corian meet all specification, fabrication and installation requirements.

Thanks to its unique balance of beauty and performance, Corian lends itself to imaginative uses, innovative interpretations and enduring applications. If you can envision it, chances are you can create it with Corian. The options are almost limitless. Do you need both design flexibility and elegance? A material that's great for work or play? Corian is a surface that can truly stand up to the challenges of time.

Corian is unique in that it can be manipulated in a number of ways while most other materials are limited in how they can be worked. Corian can be cut, drilled, carved, sculpted, routed, bent, thermoformed - the possibilities are seemingly endless as new ways of creating Corian products are always being discovered. Corian takes the advantages from many other materials and rolls them into one. It has a rich, natural translucence like fine stone and is warm like fine wood. It is available in over 100 colours so you are bound to find the perfect look for your home.

Corian worktops are solid all the way through and do not need to be treated. They are hard to scratch, but if the surface is scratched it can be easily renewed since Corian is solid and uniform from surface to surface. Corian is also non-porous which makes it stain resistant as liquids will not penetrate and seep in, so spillages just need to be wiped away with a damp cloth. The non-porous surface also prevents the growth of mould, mildew and bacteria associated with some other worktops. Corian is also non-toxic and chemically non-reactive with virtually no off-gassing at normal room temperatures in accordance with building codes and other local restrictions.

Cleaning Corian is easier than most surfaces because Corian is very smooth so there is nowhere to trap worktops are thermo-sealed which means that they do not have the joins and visible edge seals that other materials have. Corian worktops do not get a build up in the corners and edging as their is nowhere for dirt to get trapped, meaning that your worktop looks newer for longer, this quality also prevents build up of bacteria.

Corian Vs Granite

Corian is a great solution when choosing your worktops or solid surface for multiple reasons.

1. Corian is resistant to staining, heat, and is overall very durable. Surfaces are meant to be functional. We use them every day and we ask a lot from them to stand up to the abuses we put them through. Corian is a very durable product that can stand up to the demands that we place on them. Corian stands up well to abrasive cleaners that would be potentially damaging to other worktops. These surfaces are made to last and stand the test of time.

2. Corian surfaces come in a vast array of colors and styles, far more than their granite counterparts. Choosing Corian will allow you to have more styles and colors to choose from. This will allow you to match your surface to the style and feel of the room with greater ease.

3. Corian is non-porous. Granite will absorb liquids and stains. Corian surfaces will not. Granite worktops actually need to be treated with a sealant on an annual basis. worktops, whether they are in the shower or the bathroom, are constantly covered in liquids. The fact that Corian worktops will not absorb liquid will make cleaning less of an issue. You will be able to relax knowing that your surfaces are protected by the solid and smooth finish.

4. Corian surfaces are easy to repair and refinish. If you need your current Corian surfaces repaired we can help! Fill out our simple form to get in touch with pre-screened worktops contractors that will install, repair, or refinish any Corian surface in your home.

Corian is a specialist material made by DuPont. A blend of natural materials and acrylic polymer, Corian can be made into worktops and sinks, as well as other horizontal and vertical surfaces.

Corian is a versatile design material, with many uses across a wide range of sectors. In the home - where it began - Corian? creates beautiful kitchens and bathrooms, furniture and lighting. But it can also be found in shops, restaurants, hospitals, offices?.almost any environment where design and long-term performance are important.

Corian in Shops

In retail spaces, Corian combines versatility with practicality. Because it is formable, it can be thermoformed to fit tight areas or create dramatic impressions. Because it is solid all the way through, it can be inlaid or carved to showcase store logos. Because it is translucent, it can be backlit to add visual impact. Corian can be used to create indoor or outdoor store fronts, signage and wall cladding, counter and checkout areas, and display cases for virtually any kind of retail environment

Corian in Food Service

Service, food quality and ambiance are key ingredients in a pleasurable dining experience. And the surface materials used make a difference, both in creating an appealing atmosphere and in ensuring that the fresh, clean appearance lasts. Corian not only has the design credentials needed, it is also inherently hygienic. It recently became the only material (along with DuPont Zodiaq) to be awarded a hygiene certificate by LGA QualiTest GmbH, the prestigious German independent product-testing centre.

Corian in Hotels

In hotels, a guest's first impression is key. Stained tabletops and chipped vanities can be a real turn-off. Whether it's the reception area or the bedroom, a fresh, clean, welcoming atmosphere can make the difference between a one-time visitor and a regular guest. With its proven track record in the hotel industry, Corian is often selected for its aesthetics, its design versatility and its overall performance characteristics.

Corian in Marine Environments

Corian has become increasingly popular with marine architects because of its unique combination of aesthetics and functionality. Highly durable and easy to repair, Corian is a sensible choice for areas exposed to moisture, UV rays and extreme temperatures. Corian is the surface material of choice on yachts, cruise ships, ferries, naval vessels, houseboats, offshore platforms, sailboats and powerboats.

The assets of Corian in the field of medicine

Hygienic: Corian installations are homogeneous,non-porous and free of open joints, so they do not delaminate or promote the formation of bacteria and micro-organisms, thereby reducing the riskof cross-infection.

Easy to clean: Large work surfaces and integrated bowls without any visible joints are exceptionally easy to clean. What is more, as Corian can be thermoformed, it can be used to create rounded finishes where vertical and horizontal elements meet, thereby facilitating cleaning.

Stain resistant: As it is non-porous, Corian prevents infiltration by liquids, fluids and chemical products (acids, bases and reagents). If persistent stains remain after the surface has been wiped, they can easily be removed using an abrasive pad or very fine sandpaper.

Lasting and renewable: Corian is extremely sturdy and able to withstand wear and tear over time as well as frequent and repeated use. In addition, if it is damaged, the installation can be repaired on site so that it always looks in prime condition, while keeping the extent of the work to a minimum.

Helps save time and money: Corian can easily be installed on an existing covering, which saves the cost of removal and replacement.

Attractive and functional: Thanks to its ability to be thermoformed or inlayed, Corian offers a virtually endless range of design possibilities. In addition, it can be combined very effectively with other commonly used materials such as stainless steel, and is available in over 100 colours, opening up countless ways of personalising your applications.

Managers of hospitals, clinics, laboratories and consulting rooms today recognise the importance for both patients and their visitors of a pleasant reception and care environment. They appreciate that calming, comfortable surroundings will promote recovery more quickly than the institutional coldness that has traditionally been characteristic of hospitals.

Corian combines an attractive appearance with effective, reliable performance, allowing it to meet both the health requirements of a medical institution (fighting against cross-infection and ensuring hygiene) and the patients' and nursing staff's need for comfort. Produced exclusively by DuPont, Corian? combines natural minerals and state-of-the-art acrylic polymers already used in medicine. This thermoformable, non-toxic and hypoallergenic material is the perfect choice when renovating medical facilities. Finally, thanks to its durability and the ease with which it can be repaired on site, Corian retains its value over the years, representing a long-term investment in line with the brand image and the quality of your institution.

Healthcare Applications

Non-toxic: Corian is an inert, non-toxic and hypoallergenic material. As such, it is used for delicate applications such as cladding the walls and work surfaces in operating areas, clean rooms and intensive care units. In the event of fire, it has the flame-retardant properties of alumina trihydrate and does not release a single molecule of halogen gases.

Complies with Health and Safty regulations: Corian is an excellent choice for areas that must meet the most stringent regulatory standards, for example food-handling areas. In addition, as Corian? can be moulded and thermoformed, it can be used to create ergonomic passageways and workstations without sharp edges or projecting corners, accommodating wheelchairs.

Corian In The Operating Theatre

The operating area is a place where asepsis is the top priority. The non-porosity of Corian, its lack of open joints and the rounded corners that can be created using this material guarantee that it is extremely easy to clean, both for horizontal surfaces and for walls and specific applications. Corian is used to equip new operating theatres and to renovate existing surgery units.

The assets of Corian in the operating theatre

Hygienic- extremely easy to clean and maintain- complete absence of joints Inner corners rounded by thermoforming- easy to install and repair- can be installed simply by covering existing surfaces

SURGICAL BENCHES (DRY AND WET):

Hygienic- customised configuration(single, double or triple unit)

ENDOSCOPIC EQUIPMENT:

Highly resistant to aggressive substances- prevents formation of bacteria, easy to disinfect

CORIAN IN PATIENTS' ROOMS AND BATHROOMS

FITTED WASHSTAND SURFACES, HAND BASINS, SHOWER WALLS AND BASES, SIDE TABLE, SKIRTING BOARDS, FRAMES AND WINDOW SILLS

There is clear evidence that a comfortable environment has a positive effect on patients' convalescence. Thanks to its flexibility in design and its range of colours, Corian can be used to create a pleasant setting without compromising on hygiene. In addition, its modularity means that it can be used even in the most cramped areas - to create vanity tops to fit a shower room, to clad shower walls, or to provide a shower base that is accessible to the disabled.

CORIAN AND NUCLEAR MEDICINE, THE HIV VIRUS, X-RAYS AND THE PREVENTION OF CROSS-INFECTION

As is the case with all materials used in sensitive locations, Corian has undergone numerous laboratory tests and trials designed to certify its safety for both nuclear medicine applications and for X-ray facilities or facilities that come into contact with fluids and tissue infected with the HIV virus. Test reports reveal the suitability of Corian for this high-risk purpose.

CORIAN IN NUCLEAR MEDICINE

Corian is a non-porous material that can be easily decontaminated, even at extremely high levels of radiation. Laboratory tests have shown that Corian surfaces contaminated with very high levels of 14 C, 3 H, 35 S and 32 S radioisotopes can be very easily decontaminated using an abrasive pad. Repeated contamination/decontamination tests have yielded equally satisfying results.

Test results:

Corian samples were decontaminated to a level of activity of less than 100 disintegrations per minute (dpm) per 100-cm2 area, that is an absorbed dose of less than 0.2 mrad.

CORIAN AND X-RAYS

High levels of radioactive contamination can easily be removed from Corian installations.Corian is effectively cleansed of radioactive contamination by gentle sanding with fine sandpaper followed by treatment with Countoff. Following this process, the contamination is below the levels tolerated for zones that can be accessed freely without protective equipment and the Corian installation shows no visual signs of discolouration or delamination.

CORIAN AND HIV

Corian can be easily cleansed of the human immune deficiency virus (HIV) that causes AIDS. Corian does not release any products harmful to the growth of infected tissue cells and likely to adversely affect the analyses carried out in the laboratory. The tests performed by the DuPont Applied Biotechnology Group show that a Corian surface can be cleansed of high concentrations of the HIV virus simply by rinsing with a dilute solution of bleach. A 10% solution of common bleach (0.5% sodium hypochlorite) eliminates all HIV infection from contaminated Corian surfaces.

CORIAN AND CROSS-INFECTIONS

The hygienic qualities of Corian reduce the possibility of cross-infection to a minimum in all areas requiring particular hygiene. The nonporosity of the material, together with its lack of open joints, prevents the formation of bacteria while facilitating the cleaning of the installation

CORIAN IN THE LABORATORY

Outstanding aesthetic qualities
Cleanliness is vitally important in laboratories. With its hygienic qualities and its high performance levels, Corian is ideal for this type of application, while at the same time blending perfectly with other materials. It enhances the image of your laboratory and creates a more pleasant and efficient working environment.

Corian Templating Service

Cutting an MDF Corian Template Once base units are clear and level and free of obstruction or previous worktops a corian template can be made allowing the fabrication of your worktop. Each Worktop is individually measured and checked against original measurements taking account of overhangs and positions of any potential obstacles.

During templating we use a 6mm Mdf board to create a replica of your kitchen worktop. The Mdf boards are placed over the base units and scribed to the walls to ensure a perfect match. This process is repeated until all base units are covered completely and each mdf piece is carefully matched to the contour of the wall. All aspects of the template are carefully recorded
